Driveway Landscaping

Driveway landscaping does not just refer to landscaping the driveway itself. It refers to the area around the driveway and this means adding other elements such as flowers and trees along the sides. The bottom and the top of the driveway are other areas that are often neglected. Since the driveway is the entrance to your home, you do need to have it look as appealing as possible. The gates at the entrance may be the first look a visitor has of your property. You can have many decorative types of gates and either a swinging or sliding opening.

Before you do start landscaping the driveway, there are a few factors that you should take into consideration. If you have children, they will be bringing their friends over so you have to allow for the influence they will have on the area. Young children, for example, tend to pick bright flowers, so it may not be a good idea to invest a lot of time and money into planting flowers along the length of the drive. If you want to install a wall, you also have to consider whether there are any footpaths in the area that you or other people in the neighborhood use.

A wall is an excellent landscaping idea and if you use colored rocks, you can really make it look interesting. Adding a short fence is another idea that you can use and small hanging baskets and lanterns add a distinctive quality. When you plan the landscaping project, you have to decide whether you want to do the whole driveway or just the entrance. Sometimes, just landscaping the area of the driveway nearest the street is enough to do the trick.
